Discussion The Dark Knight?
Q
How will Ledger's death impact, "The Dark Knight" movie script?
I've read that they planned to bring back The Joker for the third Batman film. Will they recast the role? Or will they re-edit the film to give his character some closure?
Personally, I think it would be cruel to recast his role for the third movie. He looks amazing in the trailer footage, and with his death, he will totally become a legacy. How tragic.

Best AnswerAs much as I would agree that it would be very awkward to re-cast the Joker for the next movie after Ledge's tragic death, another part of me says that the Joker is Batman's major nemesis, if not his counterpart. Everything about Chris Nolan's reboot (esp. style and tone) keeps pointing to the inevitability of an adaptation of Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns". The Joker character may take a long break (two movies?), but I think they will re-cast him. It might work out fine as TDKR features a significantly older Batman and Joker.
Come to think of it, we're kind of in agreement.

A. It was definetly shocking to hear about it. I really liked him, he was a very terrific actor. As for impacting the third movie, they'll probably make it so that he disappears in The Dark Knight. But it was definetly sad to hear about it. He was great.
A. They have already finished filming the "Dark Knight" the movie is finished & set to come out this summer
