Discussion Smart People?

Q
Do you know people who are very smart but like the most critically panned movies?
I often find that most 'cultured' cinema people always associated intelligence with what movies a person likes, or what music they listen to. Usually the movies that are considered to be made for the 'lowest common denominator' or should I say 'dumbed down' for the public are the ones that would surely make a film snob squirm. You probably have an idea of what I'm talking about. Anyone who likes teenage comedies such as Scary movie, American Pie, Epic Movie etc. or horror flicks to action movies (300, Transformers) is often labelled as being unintelligent. So I'm just curious, do you know people who like these types of movies but are really smart, possibly more so than the typical film snob?

My friends and I were like this. All of us (except for 2) loved horror, action, or my favorite comedy... Not Another Teen Movie. We were all in the honors classes, AP classes, and at the top of our class. So I wouldn't base a person's intelligence on their taste in movies. They are only meant for entertainment and everyone has a different idea of what entertains them.

A. I know a few. On a similar note, a good friend of mine is very intellegent and well-read, yet he only ever reads "celebrity news" online, something I generally associate with people who are unintellegent and uninteresting.
