Sam Mendes directs his wife, Kate Winslet, and Leonardo DiCaprio in this 1950s story about a suburban couple burnt out on their supposedly idyllic lifestyle. DiCaprio plays Frank Wheeler, a well-paid but frustrated office nine-to-fiver married to April, who is haunted by the regret of giving up her dream of becoming an actress to be a housewife. Unable to accept their fate as a listless suburban clichéthe couple and their two children move to Paris to pursue the life they long for. However, rifts and resentment soon threaten the dream they are trying to make come true. Kathy Bates also appears in this film, out Dec. 19.
