Synopsis:
A magical story of a young woman, Penelope Wilhern (Christina Ricci), born to wealthy socialites (Richard E. Grant and Catherine OHara). Penelope is afflicted by a secret family curse in which the first born girl of the Wilherns will be born with the face of a pig. The curse can only be broken when she is loved by one of her own kind. Hidden away in the familys majestic home, she is subjected to meeting a string of blue-bloods through her parents futile attempt to marry her off and break the curse. Finally, she meets Max Campion (McAvoy) a potential suitor who is actually an undercover photogrogher for the scheming journalist, Lemon (Dinklage) and former suitor Edward Venderman Jr. (Wood). Penelope falls for Max until she finds out that he is a reporter. She then runs away from her home into the world without a clue of how everything works and her face hidden behind a scarf. She then meets Annie (Witherspoon) who shows her the real side of life. eventually, Penelope decides to sells pictures of herself to Lemon, revealing herself to the world after many years. Max soon see's Penelope again, but he still says he cant marry her. Can Penelope break the curse?
