Born February 15, 1983 to a large family that includes seven brothers, the self-professed tomboy played basketball, tennis and other sports growing up. Ebanks was as intelligent as she was athletic: She was accepted to the prestigious Columbia and New York Universities. She deferred enrollment and opted to focus on her modeling career, a decision which led her to landing Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie and Fitch, Levi`s and Tommy Hilfiger and other high-profile ad campaign. Gossip columns mentioned her frequently in early 2005 when Tyra Banks declared Ebanks her protege, and later referenced her again in 2007, when Ebanks broke off her engagement with singer Nick Cannon.
