Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Carolina Herrera moved to New York City in 1980 to launch her fashion label after gaining encouragement from her friend and former Vogue editor in chief Diana Vreeland. Her well-crafted designs have gained Herrera a tony international audience and many high-profile ladies, including Brooke Astor, Jackie Kennedy, and Ren¿¿Zellweger, who is known to wear Herrera.s gowns at nearly every red-carpet event. Herrera.s style is sleek and sophisticated, her trademark designs being a crisp white shirt, floor-length skirts, and richly embellished cocktail dresses. In addition to her lush ready-to-wear line, Herrera has a bridal line, a diffusion CH label, several fragrances including 212 (named for New York City's area code), CHNY, and more recently, the fragrance CH. Herrera has four daughters, resides in Manhattan, and is married to Reinaldo Herrera Guevara.
