A Parsons School of Design graduate and Detroit native, Anna Sui is considered one of New York.s strongest fashion talents. Known for their rebellious, punk take on girlie styles, Sui.s designs feature .60s references, elaborate embellishments, and plenty of rock and roll undertones. Though officially launched in the late .80s, her ready-to-wear line didn.t take off until the .90s, when she started showing her fantastical, multilayered looks on the runway. Shortly after, Sui opened a flagship in New York.s SoHo neighborhood and launched a line of cosmetics and perfume. In addition to her own collections, the designer also collaborates on a line of lingerie for Victoria.s Secret. Photographer Steven Meisel and designer Marc Jacobs are among her many longtime friends in the fashion industry.
