After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in business, Adam Lippes worked in the public relations department at Ralph Lauren, before moving to Oscar de la Renta.s studio in 1996. Becoming one of the youngest creative directors in luxury fashion, Lippes worked closely with de la Renta on design, marketing, and new business development within the brand. During his work in these larger fashion houses, Lippes dreamed of starting his own collection of simple cotton basics, which he later did in 2003 under the label Adam + Eve. As his collection evolved from basics into a full sportswear line, Lippes changed his label to Adam, which Oprah Winfrey declared to be one of her favorites in 2007. Later that same year, Lippes opened his flagship store in New York.s Meatpacking District.
